How to compile, link and run a program which invokes IMSL subroutine libraries

IMSL Fortran is available on orion17.uits.iupui.edu (IBM SP) or avidd-b.iu.edu. To apply for an account on these systems, there is a webpage: http://www.indiana.edu/~rats/application.shtml

Before compiling, linking, and running a program which invokes IMSL subroutine libraries, several environment variables must be defined. To define the environment variables:

on orion17:
for tcsh shell: source /software/libapps/imsl50/imsl.csh
for bash shell: . /software/libapps/imsl50/imsl.sh
on avidd-b:
for tcsh shell: source /N/hpc/vni/imsl.csh
for bash shell: . /N/hpc/vni/imsl.sh
(note for bash shell, the leading dot and space are needed for this command to work properly)

Then compile and link:

$F90 $F90FLAGS -o myimslprogram.exe myimslprogram.f $LINK_F90

There is an example program on both systems:

Only IMSL/C is installed on Steel (not IMSLF90. IMSL/C on Steel is for instructional use in classes. There is a time limit on Steel, so Steel may be impractical for research use).
