Login Shells

The default login shell on AVIDD-B is /bin/bash. Alternatives shells are listed in /etc/shells, the most popular being /bin/tcsh. To request a login shell change, please run chsh and select the shell you'd like.

Passwords

AVIDD-B users are authenticated via the IUB Kerberos service. Your IU NetID password is your AVIDD password. To change your IU NetID password, please see the IU Password Maintenance Utility. (The passwd command on AVIDD-B nodes will create a temporary local password which will be overwrittne the next time the user information files are globally distributed from the cluster manangement server node.)
