At IU, on Quarry or Big Red, how do I change my login shell and passphrase?

Login shells

The default login shell on Quarry and Big Red is /bin/bash. Alternative shells are listed in /etc/shells. To request a login shell change, run changeshell and specify the shell you would like to use. Enter your passphrase when prompted:

Passphrases

Quarry and Big Red use the Indiana University Active Directory Service for authentication. Your IU Network ID passphrase is your Quarry or Big Red passphrase. To change your IU Network ID passphrase, visit the IU Passphrase Maintenance utility at:

https://passphrase.iu.edu/

The passwd command on Big Red nodes will create a temporary local password that will be overwritten the next time the user information files are globally distributed from the cluster management server node.
